We are excited to be able to offer a variety of worship experiences for the High Holidays this year:

Multi-Access Services
Sanctuary services will take place in person and online via Zoom and streaming. 

Service Recordings 
Services that are streamed or on Zoom will be recorded. Links to recordings will be posted below as soon as possible. 

High Holy Day Food Shelf Donations 
Judaism teaches that we are all responsible for each other. During these High Holy Days, we will provide donation envelopes to STEP and Mazon. We will collect donations at Yom Kippur to help address food insecurity in our area.

Project Shofar Childcare
Available for children ages 2-7 at our
5:00 p.m. Erev Rosh HaShanah and Kol Nidre services.
Advance registration is required. Click here to register.

Live Service Broadcast in the Lobby
Sanctuary services will be broadcast live in the lobby
for anyone who needs to step out and will include
self-directed activities for children. Children must be
supervised by their accompanying adults.

Rosh HaShanah - Saturday, September 16

Rosh HaShanah Morning Service with TIPTY Choir

Temple youth, alongside our clergy, will lead us in joyful songs and prayers. Beloved folk melodies, majestic cantorial pieces, and an inspiring message will uplift our celebration of the new year 5784.

Tot-Friendly Family Service followed by Tashlich

This service is for our families with young learners under age 7. It features sing-along songs, Rosh HaShanah learning, and a fun-filled story. Following the service, we will walk a few blocks to 22nd Street & Lake of the Isles Parkway East for a Tashlich service.

Beautiful cantorial music lifts up the theme of atonement and celebration of a sweet new year. Together we reflect on the past year and make commitments for a better year to come.

TIPTY Choir Creative Service 

In person only, Minda Hall 

The TIPTY choir leads contemporary songs and prayers along with our clergy. We will share a sermon appropriate for adults and children, ages 8 and up.

Tashlich 

In person only, Lakes of the Isles: 22nd Street & Lake of the Isles Parkway East 

On Rosh HaShanah it is customary to pray at a flowing body of water and symbolically cast away our sins to embrace a fresh start in the new Jewish year. Refer to the service on page five of your Hakol to do the Tashlich ritual on your own.

High Holy Day Season Memorial Service  

In person only, Temple Israel Memorial Park, 42nd Street & 3rd Avenue South 

Join our clergy for our Memorial Service held at the Temple Israel Memorial Park, where we will honor our loved ones.

Join in our traditional Erev Yom Kippur service, which will be introduced by Bruch’s Kol Nidre with Janet Horvath on cello and sung by Cantor Sharett-Singer.
Rabbi Zimmerman will share inspiring words of Jewish wisdom as we observe time-honored traditions together.

Yom Kippur - Monday, September 25

Morning Service with TIPTY Choir

This service combines the best of the Creative and Sanctuary services into one contemplative and uplifting morning service. The TIPTY Choir will lead songs and prayers along with our clergy, and we will hear a thoughtful sermon. The sing-along folk music you know from the youth-led service, along with majestic cantorial pieces, enhances this holiday service.

This service is for our families with young learners under age 7. Together, we will sing familiar favorites, take a moment for self-reflection, and think about how we can make the new year meaningful.

Afternoon, Healing, and Yizkor Services

These are powerful worship experiences for contemplation and reflection. We will hear the book of Jonah and pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. During the Yizkor service, we call to mind loved ones who are no longer with us, but whose presence we feel as we remember them.

Nefesh Ne’ilah Service

If a child has entered your life since fall 2022, please email info@templeisrael.com so we can include your family in the Yom Kippur Ne’ilah service. 

We come to Ne’ilah with our final pleas for forgiveness from God and gather communal strength to embrace the year ahead. During Ne’ilah, we celebrate the theme of birth and renewal with a special ceremony for children brought into our lives since fall 2022. The prayers and songs with our Nefesh band bring harmony and momentum to our beautiful closing worship experience and the conclusion of our fast.   

Following this service, Please join us in the lobby for our Yom Kippur Break-the-Fast, generously sponsored by the Shirley & Marshall Besikof family in memory of Shirley’s parents, Felicia & Max Schulz. No reservations are necessary.
