Welcome! This year is an exciting time to be part of the
9th Grade Kallah Program! We have made some improvements to
the curriculum based on feedback from both parents and past
participants.
The new 9th Grade Kallah Program consists of a variety of
events designed to help your teen become an adult member of
the Jewish community. In the Fall the program centers around
learning about needs within Temple and educating the teens
so they can serve their community. The themes cover Jewish
views of death and dying, lifelong Jewish learning and Hebrew,
and pikuach nefesh, the value of saving a life. Following
study in all three areas, the teens will select one service
project tied to these themes.
Through the rest of the school year, there will be a range
of events that will help the teens grapple with issues including
about making life choices from a Jewish perspective, social
action and social justice, personal theology, interfaith issues,
and identity building.
We are looking forward to creating a unique sense of Jewish
community through study, worship, and service.
