HEBREW SCHOOL
Kids growing up with fond memories of their Hebrew School teachers.
Imagine that! Hebrew School is a place to make new friends, learn new
things and have a pretty good time. They may not tell you how much they
like it. But walk down the halls on any weekday afternoon and you will
hear a lot of spirited discussion and laughing.
It is fun, but also rigorous. The Temple Israel Hebrew School encourages “Jewish Literacy” with a five-year program. Temple Israel’s Hebrew School classes meet two afternoons each week from 4:15-5:45 p.m. on Monday/Wednesday at Temple Israel or on Tuesday/Thursday at Adath Jeshurun Synagogue in Minnetonka (10500 Hillside Lane West). Students who are entering 3rd through 7th grades and who are attending Temple Israel’s Religious School are eligible to enroll in Hebrew School.
B’nai Mitzvah classes meet once each week – and parents can choose either location, Temple Israel or Adath Jeshurun. To participate in the B’nai Mitzvah program, students must complete four years of Temple Israel’s Hebrew School or four years at a similarly recognized educational institution (Jewish Day School, Talmud Torah, etc.).
Temple’s Hebrew School is a community within a community. Each grade comes together to celebrate holidays, emphasizing the Hebrew language skills they are acquiring. Spending two afternoons each week together, in addition to one morning of Religious School, builds friendships – and learning that lasts.
