MEMORIAL PARK

The Temple Israel Memorial Park is a beautiful haven in our city, located at 42nd Street and Third Avenue in Minneapolis. With benches to rest on and large trees covering much of the cemetery, you can spend time peacefully remembering your loved ones.

The Memorial Park is one of the oldest Minneapolis cemeteries. The on-site chapel has been designated a historic landmark by the City of Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission. Founded in 1876 as Montefiore Cemetery, it remained an independent association until 1952.On May 7, 1952, Montefiore Cemetery became known as Temple Israel Cemetery. Dedicated volunteers and staff have acquired more land and made improvements in the years since the merger.

If you would like to help the Memorial Park Committee plan for the maintenance and improvement of the Memorial Park and Chapel, please contact Jim Gurovitsch at jamesguro@aol.com or Neal Frank at nealhfrank@gmail.com.

If you would like to help ensure that the Temple Israel Memorial Park and Chapel are adequately updated and remodeled, please consider a contribution to any of the relevant Temple funds. To discuss how you might assist financially, please contact Jeri Glick-Anderson at 612-374-0302 or jglick-anderson@templeisrael.com.

Temple members are encouraged to give trees in memory of loved ones. The trees make a lovely border for the park’s perimeter. To make arrangements for planting a tree or purchasing a cemetery plot, contact Miriam Seidenfeld, Executive Director, at 612-374-0305 or mseidenfeld@templeisrael.com.
